Lemala Kuria Hills : A little more room for families, a relocated spa and an even better dining experience

I’m pleased to share that the renovation of Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge in the Northern Serengeti is now complete, with a few changes that I think will make a real difference to the guest experience. Rather than adding more rooms or extending the lodge’s footprint, we’ve taken a slightly different approach at Kuria Hills – looking at what was already there and finding ways to make better use of it.

The big news: a new two-bedroom family suite
The former spa has been transformed into a brand-new two-bedroom family suite, giving families and groups travelling together considerably more space and flexibility.
It has two bedrooms, generous shared living space, contemporary interiors and its own private plunge pool. Importantly, it gives families the option of staying together without everyone having to compromise on privacy and personal space.

Families have always been welcome at Kuria Hills, but this gives us a much stronger accommodation option for multi-generational and family travel in the Northern Serengeti.

A new home for the Spa
With the spa moving out of its original location, we've been able to create a new and rather lovely setting for the Spa elsewhere within the lodge grounds.

It's quieter and more tucked away, making it a much better space for treatments and a little downtime after a day out in the Serengeti.

And a better dining space
We've also redesigned and extended the main dining tent, giving us more space and improving the flow between the dining area, bar and surrounding guest spaces.

The aim wasn't to make it bigger for the sake of being bigger - simply to make it work better, while retaining the open, relaxed feel and those wonderful views across the landscape.

Still very much Kuria Hills
The important thing is that none of this changes what makes Kuria Hills special.

The lodge remains tucked into the granite boulders and kopjes of Wogakuria Hill, with its glass-fronted tented suites discreetly positioned among the rocks and open grasslands. It remains a relatively intimate property in a part of the Northern Serengeti that offers exceptional wildlife viewing without the density of some of the better-known safari areas. 
And, of course, the location remains a major part of the appeal. Kuria Hills sits close to the Mara River and right in the path of the great Migration during the traditional July-October season, while the Northern Serengeti is a very good year-round safari destination in its own right.

Now open for bookings
The new family suite is already open for bookings, so if you have clients looking for a family or multi-generational safari in the Northern Serengeti, this gives us a much better option that we had before.

For me, this renovation is a good example of where we're heading with Lemala - improving what we already have, rather than simply building more. Kuria Hills is a very special place, and we think these changes make it even better one.
