Kwetsani Camp Reimagined
The Kays family is delighted to announce the reopening of Kwetsani Camp following a complete reimagining of one of the Okavango Delta's most beloved safari camps.
Nestled amongst towering trees and real fan palms, Kwetsani occupies a unique position overlooking vast floodplains in the heart of the Delta. Long celebrated for its intimate atmosphere and spectacular sunrise views, the camp has been thoughtfully rebuilt to honour its legacy while elevating every aspect of the guest experience.
The new camp features five spacious suites and one family suite, all elevated amongst the trees and designed to immerse guests in the surrounding wilderness. Floor-to-ceiling glass, expansive private decks and beautifully framed views create a seamless connection between the interiors and the landscape beyond.
Inspired by the colours and textures of the Delta, the interiors blend calming taupe tones with accents of orange and indigo blue borrowed from the colours of the dawn sky. Natural timber, stone and woven elements create a sense of understated luxury, while modern comforts including air conditioning and in-room coffee stations ensure a relaxed and effortless stay. Remarkably, the camp operates on a 100% solar-powered energy system.
At the heart of the camp, a striking new main area opens onto sweeping floodplain views, while elevated walkways weave through the trees, preserving the sense of discovery that has always defined Kwetsani. A new pool deck and outdoor dining spaces provide inviting places to relax between safari activities. Guests can enjoy sweeping views across the floodplains from their private decks while remaining immersed in the sounds and wildlife of the Delta. In recent weeks, lions have been frequent visitors around camp, providing a reminder that this remains a truly wild destination.
The reopening marks the culmination of an extraordinary building journey. Following exceptional rainfall and an early flood season, construction teams navigated challenging logistics to bring the project to life, including transporting a new swimming pool through floodwaters deep in the Delta. Despite these challenges, the vision has been realised exactly as imagined.
Now welcoming its first guests, Kwetsani offers exceptional access to both land and water activities, with nearby Hunda Island providing diverse game viewing opportunities throughout the year.
For the Kays family, whose roots in Botswana stretch back six generations, the reopening of Kwetsani marks the beginning of a new chapter. While the camp has been transformed, its spirit remains unchanged: intimate, authentic and deeply connected to the extraordinary environment that surrounds it.
