Ghana Tourism Authority to launch Mansa Musa cultural roadshow in US in 2026

The Ghana Tourism Authority has unveiled Mansa Musa, a cultural diplomacy and heritage tourism project created with Ghanaian poet and playwright Chief Moomen to position Ghana as Africa’s creative capital and market the Black Star Experience. Announced by CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto at the National Tourism Awards on 13 November 2025 and outlined in a 17 November interview, the programme will begin in the United States in 2026 with Broadway-style productions and multimedia storytelling to promote Ghana’s history and contemporary creativity.

Targeting major US cities – Las Vegas, New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Columbus – the campaign will be supported by new GTA offices in three US states serving as hubs for tourism promotion, business development and diaspora engagement. Leveraging film, music and comics, the initiative builds on Chief Moomen’s earlier Mansa Musa productions staged at UNESCO’s Paris headquarters and in Barbados, aiming to boost heritage tourism, attract investment and expand Ghana’s global market reach.
