Ghana Tourism Authority opens 2026 with stakeholder forum

The Ghana Tourism Authority held its first stakeholder engagement of 2026 on 12 January, convening operators from hospitality, tours, events, culture and allied services alongside the Authority’s leadership. CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto said the GTA will pursue more structured, consistent collaboration this year, with a strong emphasis on capacity building to improve service delivery, operational standards and the visitor experience.

Priority actions outlined include consolidating December in GH as a structured tourism economy, deepening heritage and cultural tourism, expanding domestic tourism, tightening standards and compliance, and driving innovation through partnerships. Industry participants welcomed the approach, with the GTA committing to regular engagement through 2026 to support sustainable growth and job creation across Ghana’s tourism sector.
