German-Speaking Market Identified as Key Tourism Growth Driver for Africa
As Africa Showcase Mitteleuropa prepares for its 2025 edition in Zurich and Munich from 16–18 September, partners Paddington Tucker and Ingo Jacob have spotlighted the German-speaking DACH region—Germany, Austria, and Switzerland—as a top priority for Africa’s tourism sector. With German outbound travel reaching record highs in 2024 and 76.4% of Germans travelling abroad, Africa has seen a 7% increase in arrivals from the country, positioning it among the continent's fastest-growing source markets.
Destinations such as South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, and Kenya continue to attract significant numbers, supported by the DACH market’s long holiday durations, high average spend, and preference for long-haul, nature-based experiences. Africa Showcase plays a key role in linking African suppliers with high-value buyers and tour operators from the region, offering a strategic B2B platform for sustained market engagement. Plans are underway to expand the roadshow to Benelux and additional German cities in 2026, reflecting growing interest and demand.
