The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation’s Turtle Conservation Centre has released four rehabilitated subadult turtles into the De Hoop Marine Protected Area on South Africa’s south coast. Three green turtles – Nori, Stella and Pebbles – and a hawksbill named Cinnamon were returned to the wild as summer sea temperatures rise, reinforcing De Hoop’s role as a proven release site for turtle conservation.

Backed by Morukuru Family and the Morukuru Goodwill Foundation, Nori has been fitted with a satellite tag to monitor post‑release movements, and the partners have extended their collaboration for a further three years to support rehabilitation and tracking. The effort comes as green turtles are now listed as Least Concern while hawksbills remain Critically Endangered, with ongoing releases contributing to marine biodiversity and strengthening the appeal of conservation‑led tourism along the Cape coast.
