Fair Trade Tourism Declares Compliance with EU Green Transition Directive
Fair Trade Tourism (FTT) has declared compliance with the EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (Directive 2024/825), confirming that its certification scheme meets the directive's requirements for sustainability labels. The declaration is supported by the FTT Standard (November 2024), updated Certification Procedures, and Logo Use Guidelines, both revised in September 2026.
FTT's certification process is built on independent third-party audits, transparent and non-discriminatory access for eligible tourism businesses, and a three-yearly re-verification cycle. Governance is overseen by an independent Technical Review Committee, with conflict-of-interest controls and formal procedures for appeals, complaints, and certification withdrawal. FTT's compliance declaration has been included in Travalyst's Certification Initiative, providing public visibility of sustainable tourism certification schemes that have self-declared alignment with the directive.
