Eswatini Opens New Convention Centre with Royal Unveiling
His Majesty King Mswati III officially unveiled the Ezulwini Palazzo International Convention & Conference Centre (ICC) on 25 April, as part of celebrations marking his 58th birthday and 40 years on the throne. Operated by Palazzo Hospitality International, the facility spans approximately 42,000 square metres and includes a 1,500-seat grand theatre, a multi-purpose hall accommodating up to 3,000 guests, and a 5,000-square-metre exhibition hall, positioning Eswatini as a competitive destination in the global MICE sector.
The opening marks Palazzo Hospitality International's first project on the African continent. Chairman and Founder Monther Darwish described Eswatini as "one of Africa's untold stories - a destination rich in culture, authenticity, and opportunity," adding that Ezulwini Palazzo is intended to serve as a platform for international engagement and investment. The centre's design draws on Italian palatial architecture while incorporating references to Eswatini's national identity, reflecting an ambition to offer a culturally distinctive venue within the Southern African region.
