EcoTraining launches online NQF4 bridging course ahead of QCTO changes
EcoTraining has launched an online NQF4 bridging course to help South African field guides prepare for the transfer of guiding qualifications to the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations. Announced yesterday, the 10-week programme addresses expected updates to training structures, assessments and administration, offering a route to secure NQF4 while remaining in employment.
The course features live, interactive lectures aligned with Field Guides Association of Southern Africa modules, professional mentorship and a flexible format for working guides. With the South African Qualifications Authority moving towards a full Tourist Guide qualification – and Nature Guide part-qualifications anticipated at NQF levels 3 or 4 – holders of NQF4 are likely to be better positioned under the new system, potentially reducing additional training, time and costs. EcoTraining also cites progression to its NQF5 Higher Education Ecotourism Field Guide Programme, with GM Brett Heasman noting that “change is the only constant” as the sector transitions.
