Durban confirms all 23 bathing beaches open for festive season
eThekwini has confirmed that all 23 bathing beaches in Durban are open and safe for swimming following recent water quality tests, with continuous monitoring in place by the city’s scientific team. With about 1.3 million visitors expected over the festive period, the municipality says it is prepared to deliver a safe and enjoyable season for holidaymakers.
All swimming pools along the beach promenade – including the Children Amusement Centre pool, South Beach paddling pool and Laguna pool – are maintained and filled with fresh water, while the Illovu and Asherville municipal pools are set to reopen after repairs. The city has reminded beachgoers to avoid alcohol when swimming, obey instructions from law enforcement and lifeguards, and not to jump from piers.
