Day 2 of Experience Africa: insightful dialogues, tortoise friendships, and a Saffa braai!
Day 2 at Experience Africa was just as action-packed as Day 1; this one with more of the buzz of bringing buyers and sellers together and sharing industry trends about South Africa and a perspective on the Chinese market.
The day started strong with an enlightening presentation from Lin Yu. In her talk titled 'The Post-Pandemic Chinese Outbound Travel for Africa', Lin delved into the transformative trends shaping the future of Chinese travel to Africa. She shared valuable insights, giving us all a broader understanding of this growing market segment.
Later, a lively panel discussion, moderated by Natalia Rosa, from Big Ambitions, shed light on various trends, challenges and opportunities within the South African market. The panel featured Ali Walls from Far & Wild Travel, Martina Barth from The Liz McGrath Collection, and Helen Bolton from New Frontiers Tours, who shared their experiences and insights. The dialogue was robust, illuminating, and a testament to the depth and breadth of South Africa’s exceptional value proposition as a tourism destination.
Of course, it wouldn't be a day at Experience Africa without a packed diary - thousands of meetings were held in both halls before a traditional South African braai took centre stage pitch side in the evening, brought to us by our headline destination, South Africa.
For a quirky twist on connection, follow the budding relationship between St Helena’s Jonathan, the world's oldest living land mammal, and Esmeralda, his fellow chelonian in Seychelles. Their intriguing conversation on Experience Africa's social media handles will continue on Day 3.
Our final day of Experience Africa will see destination Rwanda take the stage at lunch to share its compelling offering for tourists, with many more meetings and closing drinks rounding off what has been an incredible 3-day event celebrating Africa at Experience Africa - The Place to Connect.
