City Lodge Hotels Marks Women’s Month with Community Initiatives and Female Empowerment

City Lodge Hotels has launched a series of initiatives in celebration of Women’s Month in South Africa, highlighting female leadership, community partnerships, and inclusive opportunities across its operations. Activities included a tree-planting ceremony in Sandton with CSI partner Food and Trees for Africa, engaging staff in sustainability efforts while supporting an urban food garden, and a hospitality skills morning with young adults from Els for Autism, reinforcing the group’s commitment to inclusive learning.
As part of its broader support for women-owned businesses, City Lodge continues to grow its enterprise development incubator run in partnership with SATSA and Sigma International. Fourteen women-led businesses are currently involved, providing products and services across cleaning, décor, food, transport, and environmental sustainability. City Lodge Hotels reports 61% of its total workforce is female, with women making up 60% of junior management and 40% of senior management roles. These efforts align with the group’s long-term focus on transformation and gender equity within South Africa’s tourism and hospitality sector.
