Choice Hotels EMEA targets 100 African hotels by 2035 with Kenya launch
Choice Hotels International has announced a plan to develop 100 hotels across sub‑Saharan and southern Africa by 2035, embedding the continent within its EMEA growth strategy. Market entry starts in Kenya, with La Maison Royale Westlands and La Maison Royale South C in Nairobi converting to Clarion hotels, and La Maison Royale Maasai Mara joining the Ascend Collection – a move signalling confidence in rising business and leisure travel demand across Africa.
Further expansion is planned in capital cities and leisure destinations in Rwanda, Mauritius, Seychelles, Botswana, Namibia and Tanzania, with all African properties to participate in the Choice Privileges loyalty programme. The strategy – led by franchisee Aniket Shroff – leverages Choice’s scalable franchise model to support locally rooted hospitality, and follows 2025 EMEA unit growth of 17%, taking the region to over 470 properties and more than 69,000 rooms.
