Cape Town Launches First Electric Sightseeing Boat at V&A Waterfront

Cape Town has introduced its first fully electric sightseeing boat at the V&A Waterfront, marking a significant step towards sustainable tourism. Operated by City Sightseeing, the vessel accommodates up to 32 passengers and offers both scenic canal cruises and a practical transport link to the city’s Central Business District, including stops such as the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The electric boat, which runs silently with zero emissions and reduced vibrations, aligns with the city’s broader commitment to eco-friendly travel. It follows the V&A Waterfront’s introduction of the electric “Green Cab” shuttle in 2024, further enhancing green mobility options in the precinct. The initiative supports Cape Town’s drive to reduce urban pollution and meet growing demand for sustainable visitor experiences.
