Cape Town International Airport sets new annual record with 11.1 million passengers in 2025

Cape Town International Airport handled a record 11.1 million two-way passengers in 2025, according to Airports Company South Africa. International traffic reached 3.3 million, up 7% year on year, while domestic passengers rose 7% to 7.8 million. December 2025 set new monthly highs with 1.12 million two-way passengers, including about 364,000 international (+10% y/y) and 754,000 domestic (+7% y/y), marking another strong festive season for the Western Cape.

Air cargo volumes increased 42% in the first ten months of 2025. Connectivity is set to deepen in 2026, with LATAM Airlines to launch three weekly São Paulo – Cape Town services from July – the first direct South American link – alongside new and increased frequencies from Air Tanzania, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines and others. Officials say the growth supports the Western Cape’s Growth for Jobs strategy, which targets doubling tourism by 2035.
