Akashinga appoints Dr Stacy Crevello as CEO
Akashinga has appointed Dr Stacy Crevello as chief executive, adding more than 25 years of experience in biodiversity conservation and climate resilience across Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia. The Africa‑based organisation said the move strengthens governance and operational systems for its women‑led, community‑driven conservation model active in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia, supporting protection of ecosystems that underpin nature‑based tourism.
The appointment follows a six‑month organisational professionalisation drive, including integrated systems, science‑backed programmes and refined frontline training to improve coordinated operations. Crevello previously held senior roles at USAID, the Jane Goodall Institute and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. She said Akashinga’s impact is rooted in strong governance and community partnerships, with a focus on ensuring effective, accountable structures that can sustain conservation outcomes and the livelihoods connected to them.
