Akagera reports first white rhino calf – milestone after June translocation

African Parks has announced the birth of Akagera National Park’s first white rhino calf, following the translocation of 70 white rhinos to the Rwandan park in June. Although conceived before the move, the calf’s arrival in Akagera signals the herd’s adaptation and supports ongoing conservation work.

African Parks said the mother and calf are healthy under round‑the‑clock monitoring by park teams. The development bolsters Rwanda’s conservation credentials and is likely to spur visitor interest in Akagera’s expanding wildlife offering, reinforcing nature‑based tourism.
