Ajabu Scholarship Empowers Africa’s Next Generation of Hospitality Leaders
The Ajabu Cocktail and Spirits Festival has announced its 2025 scholarship recipients, spotlighting over 40 outstanding bartenders, mixologists, and hospitality professionals from across the African continent. Now in its second year, the Ajabu Scholarship Programme is designed to advance education and equity within the bar industry, placing a strong emphasis on female participation and leadership. Selected recipients from countries including South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Namibia will receive globally recognised training through institutions such as the Edinburgh Whisky Academy and WSET.
This year’s cohort includes trailblazers already making significant contributions to local bar culture through mentorship, enterprise, and community-building. Ajabu’s long-term goal is to professionalise Africa’s hospitality sector by equipping talent with global credentials, developing local ecosystems, and ensuring African voices are central in shaping the industry’s future. As the hospitality tourism segment continues to evolve, initiatives like this are enhancing the continent's visibility and competitiveness within the global drinks and hospitality economy.
