African Bush Camps (ABC) is undergoing its most significant restructure in two decades, with founder and CEO Beks Ndlovu appointing Maija de Rijk Uys - formerly a senior executive at Go2Africa - as the newly created role of Group Managing Director. De Rijk Uys will oversee commercial operations and day-to-day management, while Ndlovu shifts his focus to long-term strategy, culture, and brand direction. As part of the same restructure, ABC is retiring its four expedition camps - Zambezi and Kanga in Mana Pools, Somalisa Expeditions in Hwange, Zimbabwe, and Linyanti in Botswana - with the transition expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
The changes mark a deliberate move to concentrate the business at the ultraluxury end of the market, with ABC's future portfolio focused entirely on its Signature and Icon properties. Ndlovu cited the need for responsible stewardship of resources, staff, and communities as central to the decision, noting that the expedition camps were not delivering comparable value relative to the investment required. With more focused leadership in place, the company aims to deepen - rather than broaden - the quality of its guiding experiences and client journey across all touchpoints.
