Africa Showcase Mitteleuropa Boosts African Tourism Ties with DACH Region
Africa Showcase Mitteleuropa 2025 concluded its latest edition with successful events in Zurich and Munich from 16–18 September, reinforcing strong links between African tourism suppliers and buyers from the German-speaking DACH region—Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The roadshow attracted over 60 key buyers from across southern Germany and Switzerland, offering direct engagement with 34 African exhibitors. A key focus this year was the introduction of ‘destination dialogues’, structured discussions addressing themes such as over-tourism, conservation, LGBTQ+ travel, and evolving safari experiences.
The DACH market continues to play a pivotal role in African tourism recovery, with Germany contributing around 250,000 of the estimated 320,000 annual travellers to the continent from the region. Organisers highlighted the high repeat-visit rate, robust spending patterns—up by 20% compared to pre-pandemic levels—and growing demand for meaningful, immersive travel. The showcase further cemented its reputation as a premier Africa-focused roadshow, offering insights not only into market behaviour but also the cultural and emotional drivers behind the region’s enduring interest in African destinations.
