AfriAsia & Beyond Shares Major Refurbishment Update from Plettenberg Bay

The Crags, Plettenberg Bay: Hog Hollow Country Lodge, the iconic boutique hotel set on the edge of the Matjies River Gorge overlooking the indigenous Tsitsikamma forest, has officially unveiled a comprehensive, multi-million Rand refurbishment of its main areas and all sixteen private suites.

The extensive design transformation breathes fresh, modern luxury into the estate while carefully preserving the soul, history, and deeply personal hospitality that guests have treasured for decades.

The redesigned suites have been reimagined as spaces of light and stillness. Moving away from heavier traditional aesthetics, the new interiors showcase clean lines, soft natural wood textures, and a luminous palette of warm creams and subtle gold accents. This minimalist elegance was intentionally created to act as a tranquil foil to the vivid, dense greens of the surrounding valleys and ancient forest canopy. The newly installed glass balcony on the main deck ensure that the breathtaking mountain views remain the focal point of the guest experience.

The main lodge dining and lounge areas have similarly been refreshed to enhance the property’s famous dining experiences. Guests can still look forward to mouth-watering breakfasts out on the boma deck and shared stories over twilight dinners in the main house - now set against a more contemporary backdrop.

The refurbished suites - including all 13 garden standard suites and the three family duplexes - are fully open and welcoming arrivals for the upcoming season.
