13 journeys, 62 travel partners, one shared destination: Classic Portfolio's 2026 IMPACT MegaFam sets off across Africa
Classic Portfolio's fourth and biggest MegaFam sends the travel trade on 13 trips at once across 10 African countries, celebrating the people and partnerships behind African travel.
This October, 62 travel professionals will set off on 13 journeys through 10 African countries as part of the 2026 IMPACT MegaFam, hosted by Classic Portfolio. It's the fourth MegaFam Classic Portfolio has hosted, following 2016, 2018 and 2023, and the biggest yet.
The journeys stretch from the dunes of Namibia's NamibRand to the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, from the forests of Madagascar to Ethiopia's Omo Valley. Each itinerary has been shaped by the lodges, camps and partners who know these places best, and who are opening their doors to share them.
No two trips are the same. Some head deep into the wild, exploring Tanzania's remote Ruaha and Nyerere on foot, taking to the river and the bush of the Lower Zambezi, or reconnecting with the wild in Botswana's Okavango Delta. Others trade the bush for island life, desert skies or the Cape coast. Along the way, guests will spend time with the guides, conservationists and communities behind each place, from witnessing one of Africa's greatest restoration stories in Gorongosa to meeting Samburu communities in northern Kenya.
But the MegaFam has never really been about ticking off destinations. It's about the conversations on a game drive, the ideas swapped over dinner, and the friendships that grow between the people who host Africa and the people who send travellers there.
"Every MegaFam reminds me why we do what we do," says Suzanne Bayly, Owner of Classic Portfolio. "Africa is best understood in person. You can read about a place, but it's only when you're standing in it, meeting the guides, the communities and the people protecting it, that you really understand what makes it so special. What I love most is watching our members and partners open their doors to our travel friends, and seeing everyone come together around a shared purpose. That's what this is about: people who care deeply about Africa, and about each other, celebrating the journey together."
The trips may start in different places, but they all end in the same one. On 13 October, everyone will gather at Boschendal in the Cape Winelands for a three-day event to share stories, compare notes and reflect on what they've learnt along the way, before raising a glass to the partnerships that made it all possible.
