EXPLORE’s owner and founder, Cherri Briggs, has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the industry’s “Top Travel Specialists” every year since 2001 and was recently honored with the publication’s inaugural award for social responsibility in travel. 

Founded in 1991, EXPLORE is the result of Cherri Briggs’ long-standing involvement in conservation and community development in Africa. The company is committed to ensuring that wild, unspoiled landscapes are preserved for future generations and that conservation efforts directly benefit local communities through responsible tourism. EXPLORE actively supports lodges and operators that empower local people and uphold strong environmental and ethical practices. 

Since its inception, EXPLORE has focused on delivering meaningful travel experiences that go well beyond the traditional safari. Over the years, EXPLORE and its clients have raised or contributed more than three million dollars to conservation, economic development, and human rights initiatives across Africa. These efforts have helped build schools, foster local businesses, support AIDS orphanages, and advance numerous environmental education, research, and conservation programs throughout the continent.
