Zimbabwe Courts Singapore for Direct Flights

Zimbabwe is seeking to re-establish direct air links with Singapore, following a bilateral meeting between Zimbabwe's Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, and Singapore’s Minister of Transport, Jeffery Siow. The talks took place on the sidelines of the 2025 Global Aviation and Maritime Symposium in Singapore and focused on launching flights between Singapore and Zimbabwe’s key tourism hubs – Harare and Victoria Falls.

The discussions revisited a 2014 Bilateral Air Services Agreement, originally established during a period when Air Zimbabwe operated flights to Singapore. Mhona highlighted recent infrastructure upgrades at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, which now accommodates wide-body aircraft and can process up to six million passengers annually. Minister Siow expressed willingness to review the existing agreements, with further dialogue planned at the International Civil Aviation Organisation Assembly in September 2025.
