ZATEX 2026 Opens in Lusaka, Drawing Global Buyers and Investors to Zambia
The Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) 2026 opens at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, running from 4 to 6 June. Organised by the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA), the annual trade exhibition is expected to draw more than 1,500 participants, including over 100 exhibitors and approximately 35 international hosted buyers from key source markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, China, Japan and several African nations. Acting ZTA Chief Executive Officer Abigail Shansonga confirmed that participation targets have already been surpassed, reflecting strong interest from both local and international stakeholders.
Held under the theme "Building Sustainable and Authentic Tourism Through Partnerships", the first two days of ZATEX will be dedicated to business-to-business meetings, investment discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, with 24 SMEs from Zambia's tourism value chain and other African countries also participating. The expo concludes on 6 June with a Consumer Day open to the public, offering Zambians direct access to travel products and holiday packages from across the country. The hosted buyer programme is central to ZTA's strategy of connecting local operators with international distribution networks to drive arrivals, visitor spending and sector investment.
