Zanzibar, an island archipelago off the coast of East Africa, is poised for a surge in Brazilian tourism following a visit by 16 tourism company CEOs from the South American nation. This development comes as part of Tanzania's broader efforts to boost its international tourism profile.

The visit, orchestrated by local tourism firm Take a Trip, is seen as a direct result of promotional initiatives by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Zanzibar's President Hussein Ali Mwinyi. These efforts include the "Royal Tour" film and recent trade delegations to Brazil.

Abdulsamad Abdulrahim, Honorary Consul General of Brazil in Zanzibar, highlighted the potential for increased tourist numbers from Brazil and other Latin American countries. He noted that the visiting CEOs were impressed by Zanzibar's progress, particularly in infrastructure development.

The Zanzibar Tourism Commission welcomed the visit, emphasising the unique attractions of both Zanzibar and Brazil. Local tourism stakeholders are urged to capitalise on this opportunity by establishing networks with Brazilian counterparts.

This initiative is expected to reshape Brazilian perceptions of Zanzibar, potentially leading to a significant increase in visitors from the region.
