Zambia Airways Eyes Domestic and Regional Expansion
Zambia's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has encouraged Zambia Airways to consider launching flights to Kasama, as part of broader efforts to strengthen domestic air connectivity. The call was made during a courtesy visit by newly appointed Zambia Airways CEO Aman Wole Gurmu to CAA Director General Captain Derrick F. Luembe, with Captain Luembe noting that the government could explore supporting routes deemed critical to national development.
Zambia Airways confirmed it is pursuing a strategy to expand both its domestic and regional network, with new routes under consideration including flights to Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as growth in cargo operations. The CAA also assured the airline it would address pending regulatory matters and continue to support the carrier's development in line with applicable aviation requirements - a signal of strengthened cooperation between the regulator and the national carrier as Zambia looks to improve connectivity with key domestic centres and neighbouring countries.
