South Africa will host the 2025 G20 Summit in Johannesburg on 22–23 November – the first time the meeting of the world’s leading economies takes place on African soil. The summit is expected to draw thousands of global leaders, media, and delegates, providing both a diplomatic milestone and a major opportunity to showcase the country’s tourism assets. Under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” South Africa will spotlight key priorities such as inclusive growth, food security, innovation, and sustainable financing.

The summit is forecast to generate more than R1.2 billion in direct tourism revenue, with increased demand for accommodation, tours, and hospitality services. Johannesburg attractions like Constitution Hill and Soweto's Vilakazi Street are set to feature prominently in delegate itineraries. In preparation, investment is underway in multilingual hospitality training, infrastructure, and visitor safety, echoing the transformative impact of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Tourism stakeholders anticipate long-term benefits as the city strengthens its position as a hub for global events.
