Webinar Recording - Kilimanjaro in 2025: new rules and 25 years of summitting experience in 20 minutes!

Summit Africa review of upcoming changes on Kilimanjaro, the best routes and when to climb, tips and tricks for your guests for a successful summit in 2025.

Key Points:

Changes on Kilimanjaro

Over the last 25 years the really striking changes have been the change in glacier cover and now increasingly a change in vegetation lines and more extremes of weather. But, being the highest free standing mountain in the world, one of the 7 Summits and the highest peak in Africa, demand for this stunning ascent is not easing up any time soon. We have been part of new route development in that time too and yet our favourites of Lemosho 8 days, northern circuit 8 days and Machame 7 days for the majority of guests remain solid choices. The key is for those that want less other guests on the mountain, is date and day selection.

Coming up 2025

Porters wages will rise 50%. At least officially. A very limited number of companies will adheed to that. We have already published the increase, we strongly believe in and support our porters both on the mountain and off the mountain in a number of ways, not least with our free bi annual training, career progression and micro finance groups. This porter wages increase will impact prices and yet our SET DEPARTURES are excellent value for money.

FINDING INFO

We use https://www.summits-africa.com as a central resource for all our partners and tour operators and because our pricing policy is clear (partners 30%, tour operators 20% off rack) that allows our core DMC partners to sell on accordingly. We're part of a bigger eco system and yet for our core product, the info is on our website. Take a look at:

Set Departures: indicate our best climbs and climbs you can also select for FIT/CUSTOM as well.

MEMBERS AREA: lots of info from our currently sold Set Departures and BEST OF BEST dates, to packing lists, tipping calculators and more.

Specifications: VIP spec is our "thing" and yet we have other specifications to choose and use. Safety tools are all as standard.

PERSON TO PERSON CALLS

In late November and early December why not get the low down in person on all things Summits + Leonotis? We can tailor chats for you and even make sure that we are linking in with your preferred ground handler properly. Give us a line through [email protected] for the UK and international through [email protected] and we'll set a date and time.

And finally, we're but one company on Kilimanjaro, and there are over 300+ locally registered companies you can select from, many of them really excellent. Make sure you are really considering the interests of porters by considering partnering with KPAP/KRTO as partners like us are audited each and every climb for our porter wage rates, their food, sleeping accommodation, time to payment and so much more. If not a KPAP/KRTO partner then ask this question of your local partner: "how much do you pay your porters"? The current wage rate is $10 per day, next year 2025 is $15 a day. Are they really doing that?
