Webinar Recording - Experience African Monarch Lodges
African Monarch Lodges consisting of Nambwa Tented Lodge and Kazile Island Lodge are the only lodges situated inside the Bwabwata National Park, in the Zambezi Region of Namibia. We are also home to The Sijwa Project a community-based project where we recycle all our waste items into skilfully crafted artefacts by community members whom we have trained.
African Monarch Lodges with its lush floodplain foliage, river ways and big game could fit beautifully into a Namibian Travel Itinerary plus you could combine Nambwa Tented Lodge and Kazile Island Lodge with lodges in Botswana, Livingstone or VicFalls providing your clients with an itinerary through 4 different countries, all within the KAZA region. Our African Monarch Lodges offer an Okavango Delta experience at Namibian Dollar Rates.
Nambwa Tented Lodge is nestled high amongst majestic trees, honoring the elephants' right of way below. An authentic walkway joins decadently spacious tented suites, which emanate a feeling of vastness and evoke a gentle balance of serenity. The lodge boasts an elevated viewing deck and an al fresco dining area with a large seated fire pit area, which is ideal to watch the game on the floodplains below.
Kazile Island Lodge is a special paradise that can only be reached by boat. Here, herds of buffalo and elephant traverse the wet Zambezi landscape. Sitatunga, an elusive antelope, is often spotted along the floodplains.
The area is renowned for its large herds of elephant, which are regular visitors to the camp. They come in search of the Camel Thorn and Marula trees, which they gently shake to release the pods or marula berries. The elephants are seemingly unperturbed by guests who are privileged to get up close to Africa's largest mammal.
Our unquenchable desire to create memorable African experiences takes you on foot, by boat or vehicle. Superior standards and unrivalled space are equally matched by the detail and attention bestowed on our guests by the staff who are carefully selected from the local communities for their passion for heartfelt personal service. This ensures that all our guests enjoy an extraordinary, unparalleled and true African experience.
As a Joint Venture Lodge we honor Conservancies, Communities, Conservation and are custodians of some of the few remaining untouched wilderness areas and majestic game species in Africa. 12% of our revenue before expenses and tax is deducted is paid to the Mayuni and Mashi Conservancies each month. Your esteemed guests therefore contribute directly to the livelihoods of this community.
Nambwa Tented Lodge host Yoga and Healing Retreats which range from 5 to 7 days with varied activities on offer and includes various modalities of holistic healing therapies. Our Chefs cater to all individual dietary requirements and this is enhanced during the Yoga & Healing retreats. In fact, we could design a Yoga Safari or Healing Retreat tailor-made for you and your clients with a determined theme.
The Sijwa Project visit is one of the many activities your guests could partake in during their stay with us. It creates an opportunity for your guests to encounter and engage with our local community while they go about their daily activities. The Sijwa Project consists of an organic greenhouse based on strict permaculture principles where nutrient rich vegetables, fruit and herbs grown to grace the menus carefully prepared by our lodge Chefs, worm farms, a chicken farm for fresh organic eggs, and an indigenous tree nursery to offset carbon footprints.
During Covid, in October 2020, we established the Sewing Workshop as well as our Glass Recycling Workshop. We now employ 33 community members. They received professional artisan skills training and are producing the most beautiful pieces. All our workshops are built with recycled plastic mineral water bottles keeping in line with our commitment to repurpose waste.
The Sijwa Project, by African Monarch Lodges is home to our Beehive Project with the purpose of combatting Human-Elephant conflict which exist within our community. It is also home to our aluminium recycling workshop where we transform tin cans into works of art. Our newest project is the establishment of a Vocational Residency where we train 14 school leaving young adults from our local communities over a 3 year period. These modalities include hospitality, field guide training, journalism, art, sculpting, carpentry, computer courses, fashion design, pottery and 8 other certified career and skills training courses.
We look forward to welcoming your guests in the near future to our Sijwa Project where we give back to the land and our community.
