Virgin Limited Edition to reopen redesigned Ulusaba lodges in 2027
Virgin Limited Edition has closed its Ulusaba private game reserve in South Africa's Sabi Sand for a complete redesign, with both Rock Lodge and Safari Lodge set to reopen on 1 April 2027. The redesigned Rock Lodge will feature nine suites, including five new Rock suites and two interleading Makwela suites, with its exterior redesign led by local architectural firm Orbic. Safari Lodge will offer 11 suites, including eight Elephant suites with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and vaulted ceilings, alongside a new private enclave known as the Hide, designed for small groups with views over the Xikwenga Dam.
Interior design for both lodges will be handled by Luxury Frontiers, incorporating naturalistic décor, colourful accents, and Tsonga-inspired craftsmanship. Wellness facilities will include cold plunge pools, Himalayan salt saunas, hydrotherapy pools, rasul mud experiences, a reflexology walkway, and a yoga deck with panoramic views. CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection Joe Margison described the project as "carefully evolving what has made Ulusaba so loved over the past 25 years while also future-proofing the lodges for generations of guests to come."
