VINCI Airports completes first-phase upgrades in Cape Verde

VINCI Airports has completed the first phase of modernisation across Cape Verde’s airports and launched a €142 million Phase 1B investment programme to boost capacity over the next three years. Since taking over operations in 2023, the operator reports a 60% rise in passenger traffic between 2022 and 2025, underpinned by 35 new routes (15 in 2024 and 20 in 2025) and increased low‑cost carrier activity, supporting tourism growth and improved mobility for the diaspora.

Phase 1A delivered €80 million of works in 2025, including runway renovations at Sal and São Nicolau, terminal and passenger space upgrades, reconfigured aircraft parking, self‑service check‑in and advanced IT systems. Phase 1B will add terminal expansions, new commercial areas and a runway extension at Boa Vista, with upgrades spanning Sal, Praia, Boa Vista, São Vicente, São Filipe, São Nicolau and Maio, including waste and wastewater plants. Financing follows a public–private partnership model with sustainability‑linked loans (€60 million for Phase 1A; €120 million from IFC, DEG and EAAIF for Phase 1B, closed in December 2025) alongside shareholder equity.
