The Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) has announced plans to upgrade security infrastructure at three key international airports—Victoria Falls International, Robert Gabriel Mugabe International, and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International. The move is part of efforts to bring aviation safety standards in line with international regulations and position Zimbabwe as a more competitive regional air travel hub.

The upgrade follows a pre-feasibility study approved by the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency and will proceed to a full feasibility assessment once funding is secured. The initiative comes amid growing global aviation threats, including cybercrime and insider risks. With rising passenger volumes and increasing interest from international airlines, the enhanced security systems are expected to boost traveller confidence, particularly at Victoria Falls International Airport, a major gateway for tourism in the region.
