Uganda to open new Entebbe terminal

Uganda will open a new 20,000 sqm passenger terminal at Entebbe International Airport by the end of January 2026, to be commissioned in phases. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority says the facility will raise the airport’s handling capacity from two million to at least 3.5 million passengers a year – a boost for air connectivity and inbound tourism.

The terminal adds three aerobridges – taking the total to five – plus 24 new check‑in counters alongside the existing 22 and 14 self‑check‑in counters. Ahead of co‑hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, further upgrades are planned nationwide, including fast‑tracking Gulu to international status, completing Kabalega International Airport in Hoima, and developing Arua and Kasese as code 4E airports with longer runways for larger aircraft.
