Uganda targets Swiss luxury travellers at Lugano Holiday Expo 2025

Uganda is strengthening tourism and trade ties with Mauritius in a long‑term collaboration aimed at attracting high‑value travellers, boosting intra‑African tourism and creating new opportunities for local operators. The Uganda Tourism Board said the move follows recent talks with the Mauritius Tourism Authority, with visa‑free travel between the two countries supporting seamless movement for tourists and entrepreneurs. 

The partnership will develop dual‑destination products that pair Mauritius’s beaches and adventure activities with Uganda’s wildlife experiences, including gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. By tapping Mauritius’s millions of upscale visitors from Europe, North America and francophone Africa, UTB is positioning Uganda as a complementary destination – a strategy industry partners say could stimulate new airline routes, tour operations and hotel investment.
