Uganda has launched a high-visibility outdoor advertising campaign in Zurich, in partnership with Swiss Africa travel specialist Private Safaris, to grow its share of the Swiss tourism market. Tram adverts featuring Uganda's wildlife and landscapes began running on 17 September 2026, while a promotional video has been screening at Zurich's main railway station every 20 to 30 minutes since 1 September. Uganda's Ambassador to Switzerland Marcel Tibaleka said the campaign was designed to raise Uganda's profile among Swiss travellers, with Zurich selected for its concentration of high-income residents and the high spending power of Swiss tourists.

The Zurich campaign forms part of a broader European marketing push by Uganda's diplomatic missions. Similar public transport campaigns were run in Paris in June and Copenhagen, while Uganda also maintained a national pavilion at the FESPO travel fair in Zurich earlier this year, with 13 members of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators participating at a subsidised rate. Private Safaris - now a brand of Dertour Suisse and voted best Swiss tour operator for Africa 17 times by Swiss travel agents - already features gorilla trekking in its portfolio, one of Uganda's most distinctive tourism offerings. Mountain gorillas are found exclusively in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the Virunga landscape spanning Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC.
