Uganda Plans Second Biggest International Airport in Kidepo

The Ugandan government is in talks with potential investors from the United Arab Emirates to build the country's second-biggest international airport in Kidepo, according to the Minister for Tourism, Tom Butime. The planned Kidepo International Airport aims to boost tourism by allowing visitors to arrive and explore Uganda's national parks like Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, and Lake Mburo.

This comes weeks after Uganda signed an agreement with a private company to develop Arua Airport, currently the second busiest after Entebbe, into an international airport under a build-operate-transfer model. The government sees expanding airport infrastructure as key to realizing its development objectives outlined in Vision 2040 and the latest National Development Plan.
