Uganda Launches Transit Advertising Campaign Across Italy to Drive European Tourism

The Uganda Embassy in Rome has launched a transit advertising campaign across Italy's major cities, deploying branded buses featuring Uganda's wildlife and landscapes through key corridors in Rome, Milan, Venice, and Florence. Timed to coincide with the Easter season and the influx of pilgrims attending Papal ceremonies at St. Peter's Square, the campaign is projected to reach at least 10 million people across the country, targeting both domestic Italian audiences and international visitors.

The initiative forms part of Uganda's broader Tenfold Growth Strategy, a national economic blueprint aimed at expanding the country's economy from $50 billion to $500 billion by 2040, with tourism identified as a primary growth engine. In 2024, the sector contributed approximately 5.7% to Uganda's GDP, generating 4.8 trillion shillings and supporting more than 800,000 jobs across hospitality and transport. The Italian campaign is the first in a series of planned engagements by the Uganda Mission in Rome and follows recent participation in travel trade fairs in Berlin and the Benelux region, as the country works to diversify its European source markets.
