Uganda and Tanzania Sign Tourism MoUs at Dar es Salaam Roadshow

The Uganda-Tanzania Tourism Roadshow took place at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam on 28 April 2026, bringing together tourism stakeholders from both countries under the theme "Promoting Regional Tourism Partnerships & Business Linkages." Organised by the Uganda High Commission in Dar es Salaam, the event culminated in the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding - one between the Zanzibar Association of Tour Operators (ZATO) and the Uganda Tourism Association (UTA), and another between the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) and the UTA. The agreements cover joint marketing and promotion, business-to-business linkages, combined tourism packages, capacity development and the sharing of market intelligence.

Speakers at the event emphasised regional cooperation over competition, with TATO President Willy Chambulo noting that Uganda and Tanzania are "not competitors but are all aiming at selling markets," while UTA Vice President Isa Kato called on the private sector to translate policy agreements into tangible cross-border partnerships. Uganda Tourism Board Marketing Manager Francis Nyende presented Uganda's tourism offering, including mountain gorilla trekking, Big Five safaris, birding and primate tracking. The roadshow concluded with business-to-business networking sessions and an invitation to stakeholders to attend the upcoming Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo in Kampala.
