Uganda Airlines to launch direct flights to London

Uganda Airlines is poised to commence direct flights between Entebbe and London, marking a significant milestone for the carrier and the country. The airline has secured coveted slots at Heathrow Airport, following strategic meetings in London led by CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki.

This development promises to bolster economic and cultural ties between Uganda and the UK, whilst addressing a substantial market demand. In 2019, over 84,000 passengers travelled between the two cities, making Entebbe the second-largest unserved African market for London flights.

The new route, made possible by the acquisition of two Airbus A330-800 Neo aircraft, is expected to boost tourism and business travel to Uganda. It aligns with the airline's international growth strategy, following recent launches to Mumbai and West African destinations.

Whilst the inaugural flight date is pending final certifications from UK and European aviation authorities, anticipation is high for this step in Ugandan aviation.
