Uganda Airlines to Launch Daily Kigali Flights and New Accra Service

Uganda Airlines will launch daily flights to Kigali from 18 November 2026 and four-times-weekly services to Accra from 27 October 2026, marking a significant expansion of its African network. The Kigali route - operated by the airline's Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jets - will end RwandAir's long-standing dominance on direct scheduled services between the two capitals, while the Accra service will be flown by a wet-leased Boeing 737-800 from Ethiopian Airlines. Acting CEO Girma Wake described both destinations as commercially attractive markets driven by business travel, trade, tourism and investment.

The expansion comes weeks after Uganda Airlines signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase eight new aircraft - four Boeing 737-8s and four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners - earmarked for regional, long-haul and intercontinental routes. With Kigali and Accra added to its network, the airline is positioning Entebbe International Airport as a strategic hub linking Eastern, Central and West Africa, with onward connections to destinations including Lagos, Johannesburg, Nairobi and, in time, London. Rwanda's High Commissioner to Uganda, John Rutabana, welcomed the Kigali announcement, noting its potential to lower fares and strengthen regional connectivity between the two neighbouring East African Community members.
