TUI launches direct UK flights to Zanzibar for Winter 2027
TUI UK&I has announced twice-weekly direct flights from London Gatwick to Zanzibar, launching on 3 November 2027 as part of its Winter 2027 programme, which goes on sale on 2 July 2026. Operating on Wednesdays and Sundays through to 22 March 2028, TUI will be the only UK package holiday provider offering non-stop service to the archipelago. All-inclusive packages start from £1,615 per person for a seven-night stay, positioning Zanzibar as a more affordable long-haul alternative to Indian Ocean destinations such as the Maldives and Mauritius.
The move responds to growing UK demand for experiential winter sun destinations, with Zanzibar's combination of white-sand beaches, Stone Town's UNESCO World Heritage status and proximity to safari experiences in Nyerere and Serengeti national parks cited as key drawcards. TUI currently operates eight hotels on the island, including the TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar and The Mora Zanzibar, with partners RIU and JAZ also represented in its portfolio. Commercial Director Chris Logan described the launch as "opening up everything the island has to offer," from beaches and culture to safari excursions, within a single seamless package. The Zanzibar route forms part of a broader Winter 2027 programme spanning more than 50 destinations and 2,000 hotels.
