Tanzanian Minister Highlights Culture and Sports as Key to Tourism Growth

Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi, has underscored the vital role of culture, arts, and sports in shaping the country's global image and boosting its tourism sector. Speaking at an event in Dodoma, he urged ministry staff to actively promote Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage and sporting achievements, which serve as key attractions for international visitors. He highlighted the successful hosting of the 3rd World Kiswahili Day celebrations and international cultural conferences as important milestones in positioning Tanzania as a cultural hub.

The minister also celebrated the nation’s sporting achievements, including Taifa Stars' qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the national women’s team’s participation in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). These successes not only elevate Tanzania’s profile in global sports but also create opportunities to attract sports tourism. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Hamis Mwinjuma noted a significant budget increase for cultural and sporting projects, reinforcing the government’s commitment to leveraging these sectors for economic growth, including preparations for hosting AFCON 2027.
