Tanzanian Airlines to Resume Flights to Europe After EU Safety Ban Lifted

Tanzanian airlines are preparing to restart flights to Europe after resolving regulatory concerns raised by the European Union. Air Tanzania will be the first to resume operations, following the EU’s June 2025 decision to place all Tanzanian-certified airlines on its Air Safety List due to oversight and regulatory compliance issues—not because of equipment faults. Tanzanian authorities have since worked closely with EU counterparts to align aviation procedures, enabling the removal of restrictions.

The development is expected to boost international connectivity, trade, and tourism for Tanzania. The country’s national carrier, Air Tanzania, currently services destinations including Kenya, India, and China, and will extend its network to Europe once approvals are complete. Tanzanian officials emphasised that most of the airline’s fleet is modern and well-maintained, and the EU concerns were primarily focused on harmonisation of air traffic laws. The reinstatement of European routes marks a significant step forward for the country's aviation and tourism sectors.
