Tanzania youth programme uses animation to drive marine conservation awareness
A coalition of Tanzanian organisations has launched an educational programme using animation and classroom engagement to promote marine conservation awareness among young people. The initiative, titled Beyond the Shoreline: Youth Championing Ocean Conservation Programme 2026, has already reached thousands of students across schools in Dar es Salaam.
The programme supports Tanzania’s Blue Economy Policy and aims to encourage environmental awareness and behavioural change through storytelling, interactive sessions and community engagement. Organisers hope to expand the initiative further as marine conservation becomes increasingly important to Tanzania’s tourism and coastal economies.
