Tanzania's National Parks Tourist Numbers Soar

Despite the ongoing rains, the number of tourists visiting Tanzania’s 22 national parks remained steady over the past year. According to Mobhare Matinyi, the chief government spokesperson of Information Services, said that 1,451,176 tourists visited the country's national parks between July 2023 and February 2024. The Serengeti National Park was the primary attraction.

This figure has surpassed the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA)'s target of attracting 1,387,987 tourists in the 2023/2024 fiscal year. The Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its massive annual migration of wildebeest and zebra, continued to draw visitors despite the infrastructural challenges posed by the heavy rains. Matinyi, speaking at a press conference in the capital Dodoma, stated that TANAPA is working tirelessly to renovate the damaged roads and ensure a smooth flow of tourists.
