Tanzania Film Board Calls on Filmmakers to Champion Tourism Through Screen

The Tanzania Film Board (TFB) has urged local filmmakers to use their productions as a platform to promote the country's tourist attractions and drive international visitor growth. The call was made by TFB Executive Secretary Dr Gervas Kasiga at an awards ceremony for the Guardians of the Peak University Challenge, an initiative led by Ram Films Company that brings together youth, environmental conservation and tourism through film. Dr Kasiga highlighted the Guardians of the Peak project - which showcases the landscapes of Mount Kilimanjaro - as a strong example of how the film industry can simultaneously advance tourism, conservation and national economic development.

The TFB, working alongside the Tanzania Tourist Board, is actively positioning Tanzania as a premier international filming destination, with the government streamlining permit procedures and encouraging collaboration between local and international producers. Dr Kasiga noted that Tanzania's natural attractions, cultural heritage and unique landscapes represent compelling material for productions with global reach, adding that film has the potential to draw tourists from across the world. He called on the private sector to continue supporting initiatives of this kind, describing them as vital to placing Tanzania prominently on the global stage.
