TAAG Angola Airlines to Launch Cape Verde Route in December with Dakar to Follow
TAAG Angola Airlines is set to begin direct flights between Angola and Cape Verde on 12 December 2026, operating two services per week. The route will connect Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport in Icolo e Bengo Province with Praia, Cape Verde's capital, with departures from Angola scheduled Monday to Saturday and return flights from Praia running Tuesday to Sunday. The new service is positioned to support trade, tourism and community ties between the two countries.
The Cape Verde launch marks the first phase of a broader West African expansion, with Dakar, Senegal, targeted for 2027. The moves form part of TAAG's wider growth strategy, which includes tripling annual passenger numbers to 3 million by 2030 - up from nearly 1 million in 2022 - and expanding its fleet from around 20 aircraft to 50. Achieving those targets will require the airline to build commercial competitiveness on new routes while managing operational costs in a challenging regional market.
