Summits Africa, (and our sister company Leonotis Adventures), is pleased to announce the appointment of Samphire Travel Consulting as our UK Representation company. Having a Rep in the UK will be an important asset to us, to maintain existing relationships and forge new ones. Samphire already works with adventure products, (Savage Wilderness’s cycling and rafting in Kenya, Robin Pope Safaris’ mobiles) so we are an ideal fit.

Summits Africa has been running Kilimanjaro Climbs for over 20 years and has earned a reputation for ethics and safety. Guides and porters are your lifeline on the mountain, so we’re wage leaders, even sending a porter liaison member to monitor their rights, food, accommodation and tips. Our guides have the most ambitious training available, including bi-annual programs (not forgetting chef and porter training!) Our equipment is replaced frequently, and a close eye is kept on every detail, as tents wear quickly at altitude. Summits is easily the industry leader, with our systems-based approach and consistency of detail, where checklists, routines and briefings keep our team in touch, from trip preparation through to completion, and 24-hour staff monitor every climb. With the facility to run multiple trips, we can even run 12 departures at the same time.

Summits Africa offers white label climbs to operators, (where we brand t-shirts, caps, and vehicle stickers with your logo). Commission structures allow operators to choose direct sale or travel agent sales, and with set departures or FIT we can make selling straightforward. We run three levels: Standard, Luxury and VIP, and use at least 25 routes up the mountain, so you can choose the best experience for your client. Day treks are also an option. Book through your Tanzania DMC, or contact Penny and Fern at Samphire.

Leonotis Adventures runs two adventurous treks: The Footsteps of Mankind and The Great Rift Valley Trek, where the incredible, breathtaking vistas from the Ngorongoro Highlands along the Rift Valley down to Lake Natron showcase some of Tanzania’s most spectacular scenery. The changing lives of the local Maasai and their customs collide with the fascinating pre-history of the area, as you search for fossils, cave paintings and footprints of the early hominids who inhabited the area a million years ago, culminating in a visit to the museum at Olduvai Gorge. Our mountain camps host groups of 2 – 18, and we ensure that no trace of your visit is left in this pristine landscape. Tired legs soon arrive at Lake Natron Camp, and exertion is rewarded as you cool off in the natural pools.

Sustainability and low-impact tourism are on everyone’s lips, and how delightful to visit a camp that is possibly the world’s most sustainable eco-camp! With 7 luxury tents, run by the local Maasai, Lake Natron Camp nestles between the dramatic volcanoes of the Rift Valley, and the fresh-water streams that run to Lake Natron. It is a raw luxury at Natron, where the high temperatures make the natural pools a necessity, and a pleasure to dip into during the day. There is plenty of hiking from camp; the waterfalls prove particularly popular! Viewing flamingos at the lake is unforgettable, and dangerous game avoids this area, creating an oasis of calm after your trek or safari.

Åke Lindstrom of Summits Africa commented: “We've been looking for a strong partner to represent us in the UK for some time and so now with our partnership with Samphire we're really excited to have a team that can really help us keep moving forward. Over the next 3 years there are significant developments happening in both Summits + Leonotis and hence the importance of a motivated team that really understands our diverse product offerings. We look forward to working even closer with our UK partners with Samphire's on point location and communication".
