South Africa to Host Global Tourism Summit Ahead of G20 Ministers’ Meeting

South Africa is set to host the inaugural Tourism Investment Summit on 9–10 September 2025 in Cape Town, ahead of the G20 Tourism Ministers’ Meeting taking place in Mpumalanga on 12 September. The Summit aims to attract international and domestic investment by focusing on tourism-linked infrastructure, digital innovation, and sustainability. It forms part of broader efforts to position South Africa as a leading investment hub in Africa's tourism sector.

The Cape Town gathering will convene global investors, policymakers, and industry leaders to align tourism with South Africa’s economic growth goals, while the G20 meetings will finalise an action plan centred on sustainability, connectivity, and inclusive development. A youth-focused tourism hackathon in Mpumalanga on 11 September will also spotlight AI-driven solutions from emerging innovators, reinforcing South Africa’s role in shaping the future of global tourism through investment, policy, and innovation.
